As health and safety and environmental legislation improves and becomes more robust, it is essential that companies can identify and take appropriate action to mitigate all risks associated with harmful and/or hazardous substances. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (2002) legislation sets out specific obligations on employers to monitor the environment in which their employees work.
If substances hazardous to health are present in the workplace, the employer has a duty to ensure that workers are not exposed to levels that exceed the Maximum Exposure Limits or the Occupational Exposure Standards, where appropriate. This requires the employer to undertake occupational exposure monitoring and will normally require the services of an analytical chemist with access to appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation.
Equipped with leading edge analytical instrumentation, NPL Analytical’s UKAS accredited laboratory has the capability to undertake occupational exposure monitoring tests and many more.
