  Eric Taylor OBE - Chief Executive - NPL Group

NPL Estates’ Chief Executive Officer, Eric Taylor, was for many years a solicitor in private practice specialising in property law, advising on land regeneration, development and innovative property structures, combining his experience and knowledge on project delivery to a new set of property circumstances based on brownfield land regeneration.

Robert McFarlane - Chairman and Chief Operating Officer - NPL Group

Robert McFarlane is NPL Estates’ Chairman & Chief Operating Officer and brings his entrepreneurial skills and experience to a new set of circumstances in the property market, delivering projects of high value but with a social conscience. Robert has also been instrumental in NPL's acquisitions which brings the land holding to in excess of 12,000 acres.

Both Eric Taylor and Robert McFarlane, who are partners in the venture which includes NPL and its specialist holding companies, have within seven years from inception established a substantial portfolio. The combined companies bring with them strength and experience in depth, delivering new and innovative land regeneration and waste strategies for the future.

The combination of Robert's innovative approach and Eric's experience of structured land regeneration projects all working with a deeply experienced management team has enabled the NPL business model to generate significant success measured not only in financial results but in environmental and social benefits.

As Managing Director of NPL Estates, Simon’s key areas of responsibility are land acquisition, management and developments on current and new sites. Simon manages the businesses within NPL Group including Estates, Facilities Management, Landcare, Environmental and Analytical.

With an Honours Degree in Estate Management and a Chartered Surveyor, Simon’s background is within the contaminated land redevelopment sector. He has vast experience in leading specialised teams on complex projects delivering significant value from regeneration schemes.

A Civil Engineer, Alex was previously employed with Fairclough/Amec for over 25 years managing the delivery of significant civil engineering tenders. Successful tender values varied from £5.0m to £150.0m.

Alex joined NPL in 2006 and as Group Projects Director is responsible for the management and coordination of the diverse range of projects within the Group. This includes large scale residential schemes, leisure projects, waste management facilities and commercial developments.


Peter Dukes, Senior Project Manager, Gas Storage Projects

Peter Dukes spent more than 30 years in senior positions with several leading firms of consulting engineers before setting up his own practice in 1996.  He has been involved in a wide range of energy projects including Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal, St Fergus Gas Terminal, Morecambe Bay Gas Field (as project director for the controls and communication system), Forties Field, plus project director for the nuclear and M&E elements of the PSA Faslane, Coulport EHJ and Rosyth RD57 projects.

Over the past 10 years, he has been involved in a number of CCGT/CHP power station, underground gas storage and water supply projects for several developers, including NPL. Peter is leading a multi disciplined team including external expertise to deliver a number of high value energy projects for the NPL Group.

With an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, Arran has over the past 10 years been employed in the Construction Industry in Scotland. His experience in this field ranges from night-time runway resurfacing to waste water infrastructure projects. His latter years with Amec were spent in leading Hands-on Project Management of Infrastructure and Industrial Contracts to £23million.

His role in NPL as Project Manager with this construction background brings feasibility assistance to NPL proposals together with the drive and management skills to take projects to successful fruition.

MSc, BSc, (Hons), CEng, MIChE, Diploma in Hazardous Waste Management (Loughborough University)

Previously employed with ICI for 30 years, most latterly as their Senior Environmental Manager, Mike’s key roles were in process, operational and environmental management. He was responsible for many environmental improvement activities on plants, landfill sites and in contaminated land remediation schemes and was also involved in business and site divestment work.

As Environmental Projects Director, Mike leads the multi disciplined environmental team within NPL and manages the external expertise provided by our team of consultants. Mike is responsible for risk assessments on new acquisitions, managing the environmental auditing programme on our existing portfolio and designing remediation solutions for our development programme.


Scott Carswell, General Manager of Thornton Facilities Management / Peter Naylor, Operations and SHE Manager / Kevin Wardle, Operations and Services ManagerScott Carswell, General Manager of Thornton Facilities Management leads a multi disciplined team involved in the provision of a wide range of services to a number of blue chip clients.

Along with Peter Naylor, Operations and SHE Manager and Kevin Wardle, Operations and Services Manager, Scott and his team are responsible for the day- to-day operations at Hillhouse Business Park, Thornton Cleveleys and NPL Group’s growing portfolio of sites nationwide.   Jointly they bring a wealth of experience to the Group having backgrounds in accountancy, business management, Chemistry and Environmental Control and in the management of large complex sites with particular expertise in environmental compliance.

This growing facilities team’s expertise is utilised by the Group on all of its sites nationwide.
